The workshop’s windows face west, so late afternoon is always a special time on a clear day. The sunlight slips in at a shallow angle, warming the room, casting deep shadows, and adding an amber cast. Strangely, though it is late in the workday, the sunbeams bring with them a new energy.
Someday I’ll have a larger workshop. (Isn’t that a standing desire of all woodworkers, like needing one more clamp?) And that workshop will have windows on all sides so natural light can flow forth from dawn to dusk.
When I think about what my ideal workshop might be like, Garrett Hack’s always comes to mind–especially for the amount of natural light he has. And, it’s hard to not be impressed he built it from the ground up. You can find a video tour of it at FineWoodworking.
